Brian R. Beckwith, Law Clerk
Brian is currently in his final year of law school at Thomas M. Cooley in Grand Rapids. Prior to law school,
Brian earned his undergraduate degree in accounting from Ferris State University. He then went on to work in the public accounting industry for 3 years, specializing in financial audits of local governmental and non-profit entities. He also worked extensively in the area of taxation of non-profit organizations. Brian’s experience gives him the ability to not only understand the legal needs of a business, but the management and financial needs as well. His intended areas of practice are business law, commercial litigation, tax law, and wills & estate planning.
At Cooley Brian is an Honors Scholarship recipient, regular member of the Dean’s List, has been on the Honor Roll for every term, and received the Certificate of Merit in Constitutional Law II. His studies currently concentrate mostly on business and tax law. He will graduate with his law degree in January 2012, and with his LL.M. in Taxation in September 2012.
Brian and his family currently reside in Traverse City. He and his wife are life-long residents of Northern Michigan and both graduated from St. Francis High School in Traverse City. In his spare time he enjoys spending his time outdoors, whether it be camping, hiking, running, snowshoeing, or mountain biking.
